ABOUT US

Therapy That Works

We have worked in elementary schools, doing school social work and community mental health clinics, primarily working with children and families. We have worked with children, teenagers, and individuals in private practice settings. We specialize in working with children and teenagers, and I have earned more than 80 hours in play therapy training. I am currently working towards earning my certification as a registered play therapist.

Let's face it. It isn't easy to find Christian counselors for kids and teenagers in today's age. Fortunately, We have over ten years of experience working with children, teenagers, and families.

Our Counselors

Because God has comforted me, I can now comfort those who struggle. I was raised in Bolivar, Missouri, a small town I have always called the "buckle of the Bible Belt." Although excellent in many ways, the Bible belt can unknowingly create an atmosphere of congratulating the "perfect" while shaming those who don't meet the standard. For years, I struggled with this roller coaster of highs, when I achieved, to lows, when I failed, until I genuinely learned an identity outside of my successes and failures. I praise God for my failures, stumbles, and dark days because now I can comfort others with the comfort I have received."

In addition to "life training," I attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri, where I graduated with my B.S. in Psychology and Sociology with an emphasis in counseling. I attended Dominican University in Forest Park, IL, for graduate school, where my training was focused on clinical child and family counseling and school social work. 2006, I received my master's in social work from Dominican University. Here, I learned about the meaning of CARITAS, "Christian love of people."

I have worked in elementary schools, doing school social work and community mental health clinics, primarily working with children and families. I have received certification in children's grief group facilitation, EMDR, and Second Step Social and Emotional Learning facilitation. I have lived in Omaha since 2010, working with children, teenagers, and individuals in a private practice setting. I specialized in working with children, teenagers, and women.

"For I Know the Plans I Have for You,” Declares the Lord, “Plans to Prosper You and Not to Harm You, Plans to Give You Hope and a Future." Jeremiah 29:11

I am originally from Napa, CA, and have lived in Omaha for 26 years. My career in Omaha started at Boystown before spending many years in the Insurance and Risk Management arena. I served in various roles ranging from adjudicating claims to litigation, program sales, and program management. Most recently, I was in healthcare staffing for over eight years.

I like playing golf, snowboarding, hunting, fishing, and traveling in my free time. My wife and I are empty nesters and are grandparents. I have two adult sons and a granddaughter and grandson. I am proud that my sons are in roles that help protect people. My youngest son is in a management role for a security company, and my eldest son is in the Armed Forces. We were a sports family, and I actively coached my son's youth sports for several years. In every role, I learned so much about success and the key drivers that help individuals reach their goals. Regardless of my role, I have always enjoyed the relationships discovered in those experiences.

I have always been drawn to people and have a social services mindset. My mom worked at Head Start for over 40 years; I was a Head Start kid. I went to school for psychology, graduating with a bachelor's degree from Sonoma State University in 1999. In addition, I hold designations as an Associate in Risk Management, an Associate in Claims, and a Senior Claims Law Associate through the insurance industry. I am currently enrolled in the Master's Clinical Mental Health program at Bellevue University. I am a certified professional life coach, earning my designation through The Certified Life Coach Institute. I have been at many start-up companies in my career and have experience in family-run businesses and corporate settings. I bring a wealth of knowledge and insight to my coaching, having taken on so many roles within each organization. I have been in front-end sales, operations, supervisory and management roles. I have trained and mentored numerous colleagues. I have experienced both success and opportunities for growth.

Because of this, I want to assist others in discovering their unique abilities and talents for a more significant life experience.

My experience and faith have shown me that it is never over for any of us and that He meets us exactly where we are. His grace is sufficient. His love is overflowing. His mercies are daily. There is redemption and restoration for us all. I am blessed to be a part of His story.
